WESTERN OREGON PERMANENTS
Perm #1727 Rock Creek - Clatskanie - Vernonia - A lovely 204km loop heading north and west from the Rock Creek neighborhood. (start location is 3.5 miles from the Orenco MAX station). Visits Skyline, St Helens, Beaver Falls, Clatskanie, Rainier, Vernonia, and the ever-beautiful Banks-Vernonia Trail. See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1863208 and read my blog post of the route here.
Perm # 1963 - Portland to Maupin. A 201km. one-way permanent from downtown Portland to Maupin via Estacada and Timothy Lake. Route is reversible. For extra badass points, do it both ways in one day. (And yes, it's been done!) See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1871138
Perm # 1718 - The Usual Suspects. A 114km training loop heading south and west from the Rock Creek neighborhood. (start location is 3.5 miles from the Orenco MAX station). Travels the "usual" roads via North Plains, Roya, Forest Grove and Gaston, south to NOrth Valley Rd and Newburg. From Newburg you'll head north over the only real climb of the day, on 219, and back to Rock Creek. See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/1833032
Perm # 2220 - Rock Creek - Scappoose - Vernonia 130K. An abbreviated version of Perm # 1727, which heads over the hills to Vernonia via Scappoose instead of Clatskanie. See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3928231
Perm # 2239 - Rock Creek - Apiary - Timber 202K. Bring your climbing legs. All the awesomeness of the hills east of St. Helens and Scappoose, including the near-traffic-free Meisner & Apiary Roads, but without the usual (some might say "boring" return via the Banks-Vernonia Trail. Instead, keep those legs warmed up for the return trip via Timber and one last leg buster the back way up Clapshaw Hill Rd. See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3945068
Perm # 376 - Tualatin Hills 200K. This perm was orphaned when it's original owner moved away. I resurrected it, with some changes. Wherever I could, I moved the routing away from busy roads onto parallel roads with less traffic volumes. I also removed an exceedingly steep, high traffic hill near the end that I felt had the potential to be treacherous in the dark late in a ride. While the route still is not perfect (but really, what route is?), I think it's an interesting route that will provide some good climbing challenges without every straying too far off the beaten path. The route includes Skyline and a trip up Bald Peak. See the route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3980482
COLUMBIA GORGE/CENTRAL OREGON PERMANENTS
Perm # 1963 - Portland to Maupin (described above) is reversible and may be ridden from Maupin to Portland.

Cross back into Oregon and climb up onto the high platau. The route visits the small communities of Moro, Tygh Valley & Dufur. Lots of traffic free roads including a lovely stretch along the Deschutes River. See route here: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/3882435 and read a complete description of the course here.
